Serenity Funeral Home Oxford MS Obituary: Margaret Naomi Rader

Margaret Naomi Rader, a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, passed away on February 28, 2015, at the age of 65, after a long battle with Myasthenia Gravis. Born November 9, 1949, in Owsley County, Kentucky, to Arco Phillips and Martha Holland Phillips, Margaret was known for her hard work and dedication.

Throughout her life, Margaret worked tirelessly as a homemaker, taking care of her family and home. She also worked at Billy Bob's Tobacco before her health no longer permitted her to continue working. Later in life, she owned and operated the Hometown Restaurant for over 10 years, serving the community with warmth and kindness.

Margaret was an active member of the community, volunteering as a foster parent for children in Clark County and serving on the Women's Republican Committee for many years. She was also employed by Sylvania for several years and attended Franklin Avenue Church of Christ.

Surviving Margaret are her husband, Darvel Lee Rader; daughters Shannon Shields (Curtis Toney), Marjorie Smith (Roger), and son Darvel Lee Rader Jr.; 3 grandchildren, James Toney, Martha Toney, and Wyatt Lee Hall; 2 sisters, Lena Durbin (Robert) and Lula Day; brother Cotton Phillips (Kay); and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice East. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00am on Friday at Scobee Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 10:00am. Burial will take place in the Winchester Cemetery.

Margaret Naomi Rader will be deeply missed by her loved ones and the community she touched during her lifetime. Her legacy of hard work, kindness, and dedication will live on through those who knew and loved her.
